Hungarian Goulash


Hungarian Goulash is one of the most known Hungarian dishes in the world. In the main time, most of the recipes out there are pretty far from the authentic, simple but delicious recipe. Try this recipe for an authentic Hungarian Goulash.

  • 2 lb beef stew meat, 
  • 1 big yellow onion, chopped 
  • 4 Tbsp Lard or vegetable oil 
  • 2 tsp salt 
  • 2 Tbsp paprika 
  • Tomato 
  • Hungarian pepper 
  • Water or red wine
  1. Cut meat into small pieces, salt to taste 
  2. Heat the fat and cook the onions until they begin to brown 
  3. Add the paprika 
  4. Add the meat and sear it 
  5. Add a little water if needed (you can replace with red wine) and bring it to boil. 
  6. Add tomato and pepper 
  7. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 2 hours, add more water/wine if needed
