An exploration of musical culture by southcentral Kentucky musicians.

This performance will include a variety of genre of Latin music. We will be including dances from the Dominican Republic- Merengue, Bachata, Puerto Rico- Salsa, Reggaeton and cumbia.

Classical Dance from India

Kuchipudi Dance, which is classical dance styles of India. Kuchipudi is indigenous to the state of Andhra Pradesh and differs from the other five classical styles by the inclusion of singing. Kuchipudi originated in the 17th century with the creation by Sidhyendra Yogi of the dance-drama. The performance is dedicated to SLB Kuchipudi Kalaniyam.

KUVEBO! means “village style drum and dance party” in Hamidou Koivogui’s home in Guinea, West Africa. Now residing in Louisville, KY, Hamidou brings his music and dance traditions to our communities, with experienced artist-educator collaborators and dedicated students. Kuvebo! artists perform music and songs in traditional languages, flutes, thumb pianos, slit drums, djembes and dundun drums, and more. We take audiences as close to West Africa as possible without leaving home! All Kuvebo! shows incude tailored costumes, West African village backdrops, and above all—invitations to join in the fun!

It is a community-oriented dance school dedicated to offer classes in flamenco dance and music and to promote growth and appreciation of the Hispanic culture by conducting performances in schools, festivals and other venues in the community.
