Kimberly Boswell joins festival Board

The BG International Festival, inc. is proud to announce the election of Kimberly Boswell to its Board of Directors. Kimberly volunteered all day at the information booth in 2010 and says, “I’d like to participate in more volunteer activities that serve this diverse community, especially those that aim to educate, promote, empower, and celebrate the various cultures. I thoroughly enjoyed my volunteer experience at last year’s BGIF and my attendance at previous year’s festivals. I am honored to be invited to serve on the Board of Directors for the Bowling Green International Festival and will work hard to promote its mission & theme.”

Kimberly Boswell was born and raised in south central Wisconsin. She moved to Brandenburg, KY in 1991, where she worked as a Chiropractic Technologist and took classes at ECC. In 1997, She moved to Bowling Green to attend WKU full time and completed her BIS degree in Science and Humanities in 2000. She studied French in high school and college and took classes in Spanish and American Sign Language.

Kimberly loves to travel – having been to France in 1989 with her high school French club; vacationed in Cancun, Mexico in 1997; participated in a 2 week CCSA study abroad trip at the change of the millennium in Cairns and Sydney Australia, where they studied the rainforest and Great Barrier Reef ecologies; and took a 3 week tour of the Pacific Northwest in 2006, which included Oregon, Seattle, Victoria, & Vancouver.

She has also travelled throughout the US to see the Grand Canyon, the Badlands, the Everglades, the Florida Keys, the Biltmore, the Smokey and Blue Ridge mountains, Crater Lake, Mt. Rainier, Savannah, Atlanta, NYC, Phoenix, & Chicago.

She supports the BG/WC Humane Society, where two of her four cats were adopted. She also has a 6 year old dog, Toby, who is half Boston Terrier – half Japanese Chin.

She enjoys yoga, swimming, 5K runs, and listening to audio books during her commute between Russellville and Bowling Green. Although she has worked in several capacities on campus since her arrival at WKU, she has spent the last eight and half years as an Office Associate for the Department of English.
