Celebrating International Heritage Month 2004

the City of Bowling Green and County of Warren, Kentucky are made up of a richly diverse population of community members with either recent or ancestral roots in foreign lands; and,
|
| Whereas, |
as individuals our lives are enriched by the broadening of our understanding and experience of diverse customs, music, art and ideas and,
|
| Whereas, |
we as citizens recognize the need to educate ourselves and our children in preparation for finding our place in today's global economy; and,
|
| Whereas, |
our own community has experienced the economic benefits of new businesses, new home owners, new residential consumers, new workers, and an expanded tax base provided by foreign born settlement into our community; and
|
| Whereas, |
both the city and county governments support the Bowling Green International Festival and related events because of their commitment to foster good human relations throughout the community; and,
|
| Whereas, |
many local businesses and organizations will show their support of the festival and the community's diversity through related events throughout the month of September; and
|
| Whereas, |
on September 25, 2004, after months of planning and the support of individuals, businesses, organizations and government in Bowling Green and Warren County, the festivities culminate in Fountain Square as people of all nationalities come together to proudly share their unique culturals in the form of entertainment, exhibits, activities and food; and
|
| Now, Therefore, |
we, Sandy Jones, Mayor of the City of Bowling Green and Michael O Buchanon, Judge Executive of the County of Warren, Kentucky, do hereby proclaim the month of September, 2004 as
Celebrating International Heritage Month 2004
and call upon all residents of Bowling Green and Warren County to observe this month by celebrating the Bowling Green International Festival and related events as well as appreciating the cultural diversity of our community.
