Summary:
The Bowling Green International Festival will host a grant workshop by Patricia Ritter, Circuit Rider for the Kentucky Arts Council. The workshop is free and open to all artists, events coordinators and interested persons on November 15, 11AM-1PM at Heather's Theatrical Arts Academy 414 East 10th Street, Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The meeting was originally planned by International Festival Executive Director Kim Mason to find out about the many opportunities available through Kentucky Arts Council for enhancing and expanding the festival. Many new partnerships are being formed to offer a wider range of artistic and educational opportunities both at the Fall 2002 festival and throughout the year. New next year will be the Mark Oval Black Juried Art Exhibition, one of several projects for which Mason was seeking funding. "When I asked if it would be possible to share this opportunity with others, Pat loved the idea. I know from running the Amplifier just how many wonderful artists, organizations, events and venues there are in this area, and that many do not realize all the opportunities available to them through organizations like the Kentucky Arts Council. I would like all of them to have access to information that they can use to accomplish their visions." There are grants available for all types of visual and performing artists including writers and musicians as well as events, venues and organizations.

Circuit Riders like Patricia Ritter, are the liaison between individual artists and the Kentucky Arts Council and they assist artists with every aspect of the business of doing art, including the funding of projects. The informal meeting will begin with a description by Ms. Ritter of programs through the Kentucky Arts Council that assist artists and organizations. Her talk will be followed by an hour and a half discussion and question period. This meeting offers the rare opportunity for artists to find out about grant opportunities, ask questions about how to write and apply for grants, discuss project ideas and network with other artists and organizers. Printed Information and grant applications will be available to anyone interested.

Heather's Theatrical Arts Academy is across from the old courthouse on 10th and is the home of Children in the Park, a nonprofit youth performing arts organization for children age 4-14.
