Cape Town, is a multi facited band which features South African vocalist and bassist, Paul Peteren. The music embodies the rhythm of the islands, songs of Africa and the soul of Ameria. Cape Town’s musical tastes
include influences by Johnny Clegg, The Bonedaddys, Fela, Santeria and Santana. In short, it’s good old fashioned dance music with a twist World Beat Americana. These players are versed in jazz, pop rock and a variety of other styles.

Paul Petersen brings a multitude of talents to Cape Town. Living most his life in South Africa, Pau1 was exposed to a variety of musical styles (world, jazz, pop, rock, etc.) His talents include being a world class vocalist as well as bass, guitar, keyboards, writing and arranging talents. He will even pick up a pair of sticks and joins Jim and Jason in some fiery drum solos. The heart and soul of Capetown is personified in Paul Petersen.

The Founder and percussionist Cape Town is Jim Roberts. He is a life long student of music as diverse as West African Djembe, Cuban Salsa and American rock and jazz. Jim has played with a diverse group of artists that include Futureman, Victor Wooten, Mbonda Afrika, The Horse Flies, Donna the Buffalo and The Chuck Davis African - American Ensemble. Jim writes and arranges Cape Town materia1 along with guitarist Phillip Wolfe and Paul Petersen. CapeTown also features flavors of jazz with the saxaphone of Cole Burgess, who sometimes is reminiscent of Nigerian, Fela Kuti. He is complemented by Phillip Wolfe, whose guitar and keyboard talents variey in influence from Santana to Soukous. Phil and Cole are our main soure of comic relief, sometimes refered tv as the “Full Monty Pythons”.

Our newest members indude Sargee, whose gospel influened voice nicely fills out the high harmony. She made her living in the subways of Chicago before being noticed and asked to play for events and parties in the windy city. Presently, she is doing sessions in Nashville as well as singing at local events. She always makes us laugh and draws incredible African portraits.
