Impromptu Dance is an emerging dance company with branches in Panama City, Panama and Bowling Green, KY. Panama's Impromptu - Tribal Belly Dance section staged a highly succesful performance on June 7th feauturing hip-hop and Indian dance fusion pieces, as well as improvisational, tribal, and gothic belly dance. Nadia De Leon, initiator of Impromptu Dance, graduate from WKU in 2006 with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts Education with emphasis in Dance. She performed the tango, along with Yasar Kaya, at the Bowling Green International Festival in 2004, as well as directed a salsa choreography and workshop by the Latin-America Student Association (LASA). In 2005, she again directed a LASA salsa/reggaeton choreography and workshop. Nadia De Leon and Yasar Kaya taught tango at the Preston Center, and initiated a seminal troupe in 2005 with fellow students Crystal Kaya and Timothy Howard. The troupe performed at that year's WKU International Night; the WKU Dance & Theatre Department An Evening of Dance 2005, and Hope Harbor's Take Back the Night. In 2006, Nadia De Leon also presented a Belly Dance piece at Take Back the Night with some of her students. Crystal and Kaya have since joined Tango Nashville and continued to perform professionally.
